8 Beauty trends from Around the World (you need to know about!)

Beauty-around-the-world

Have you ever found yourself on the other side of the world indulging in a local beauty treatment, only to realise it completely saved your jet lag skin? For me, this has become a pretty regular occurence over the years. In fact, trying new skin products and beauty regimes in places I visit, has become one of my favourite indulgences. From Japan’s dry brushing phenomenon to the one French skincare brand you all should know about, these are the best beauty trends from around the world.

1. Dry Brush

A Japanese ritual, dry brushing has quickly risen to the top of our beauty regimens in the west during lockdown. I don’t know if it was all that time at home to research new beauty trends or a wave of Japanese influence over our skincare routines (to be honest it was probably a bit of both), but it seems dry-brushing is here to stay

Dry-brushing is an ancient technique that originates from Japan and is used to perform a self-driven lymphatic drainage. This releases toxins from inside your body in a quick and efficient manner, and is much more affordable than attending lymphatic drainage massages.

2. Radiance Serum from Caudalie Paris

French skincare brand Caudalie is not just a top choice for French women, but it is an absolute essential. In fact, I don’t think there’s a single French girl out there who doesn’t have at least the radiance serum from Caudalie in their skincare bag! The serum is a quick and easy way to put moisture back into your skin in your evening routine, ready for a night of rest while the product does the hard work for you.

3. Silk head wrap

If you haven’t heard what silk can do for your hair and skin yet, stop what you’re doing and get ready to change your life! Silk pillowcases could be attributed with starting our obsession with taking care of our hair (and preventing it from breaking in our sleep), but don’t let it stop there. These silk head wraps are a great way to protect your hair when you’re on-the-go and sleeping on hotel pillows.

4. Lymphatic Drainage Face Brushes

Back on the lymphatic drainage train, we can’t miss out on mentioning these face brushes from Japanese brand Shaquda. If you’re finding Gua Sha is not quite cutting it for you, give these thin bristle brushes a run for their money. Daily usage is the best way to see results and you’ll need to wait at least a couple of weeks before you notice results.

5. Rejuvenating Hand Peels from Austria

Did you know our hands are the first sign of ageing on the body? Well, it is never too late (or too early) to start taking care of them! This rejuvenating hand peel from Austrian skincare specialist Susanne Kaufmann is a game-changer. Get ready for baby skin levels of hands. Yes really!

6. Hydrating body oil from Denmark

Denmark might not be your first thought when considering skincare brands, but there’s a very good reason it should be. It’s called Frama. This apothecary skincare brand focuses on rehydrating the skin, an important regimen when you live in sub zero temperatures for those long Danish winters! If your skin is in need of some serious rehydrating, this brand is a life saver.

7. Pure Marula Oil from African Botanics

Speaking of oils, a face oil we can’t live without is the African Botanic pure marula oil. This antioxidant face oil brings instant radiance to the skin and will stay on the skin all day if you apply it with moisturiser at the same time. This product is better suited to warmer climates, to lock in moisture for a day of sunshine.

8. Thermal Cleansing Balm from Budapest

Last but not least, I will never forget the day I came across Hungarian skincare brand Omorovicza. If you haven’t heard of them already, run don’t walk to bag yourself some goodies! I’ve tried almost everything in the skincare line and constantly buy the moisturiser, vitamin C eye cream, and this thermal cleansing balm. It will leave your skin feeling totally revived, especially if you apply it in a warm bath to open your pores and let the product seep in. It’s brilliant!
